I recently did someone a big favor and when it was done, the said, come on in here , I have something you can have, and I would like it to go to a good home so..they gave me a Altec 353A stereo power amplifier pre amplifer with a light bronze/brown metallic front panel. I looked in the rear and there are 4 tubes and they are power output tubes 6L6. It looks like new and appears to be totally functional....I apoligize for this not being a speaker altec question, but is there anyone who has any info on this rare piece of altec history? It must weigh 50 lbs and must have some outragous transformers inside. I am not at a spot in time where i can open it up yet, so hoped someone could help me with any information? Thanks......

thanks zilch for the info, mine looks like new compared to the abused one on ebay, I did not know they were so valuable even in that condition. I wonder where I could find out specs and etc?
