    2445 without horn

Many years ago I read about a Danish recording studio called PUK using massive custom made JBL based monitors.
I remember they used stripped and reversed 2445's as 4" domes.
Any comments/experience on how that would sound?
On the surface it seems like a good idea as the efficiency of a horn is not required for home use.

    regards

Well the 093ti driver comes to mind. Sounds very good too. Very similar to what you are proposing.

    Hi Jorn / Rob

My preference in this area of "metal-domed" midrange - will be to buy the technology used in the PT800 ( Performance Series ) . Here's Harmans' Current Pricing , available to US based customers. These are "extremely" attractive prices ( IMHO ), compared to implementing, virtually any other metal-domed approach. Also, I figure this newer technology sports better "dampening" characteristics with the inclusion of the rubber surrounds .

You can read Titanium Domes' detailed testamonials in his very comprehensive thread dedicated to expanding the knowledge base of the Performance Series.

    Here's a great pic, it's a "profile" shot of the 908ti ( the 8" titanium-coned midbass transducer in the PT800 ) .

    regards <> Earl K

PS : my link to JBL, is now "Fixed". Thanks Alex and John !

Try this, but give it a minute - the site is usually slow to load:

Thanks John, it loaded up now, slowly as You said, even with a 1024 connexion, before, it would say "ready", and I´d get a blank screen.
