Make JBL 4333a Enclosure 3/4 plywood or 5/8 Plywood, or particle board MDF

So I'm making the speakers, the will be a 4333a style with home components. I have always made pro speakers 5/8 birch 11 ply and subs 3/4 birch 11 ply and I like plywood better then particle or MDF. Is there a disadvantage by making the speakers plywood.
    Thanks,
    Angel

This is gonna open a can of worm... ;-)

I myself prefer MDF and HDF because the cut is sharper. No spline to fix. Denser. While plywood is lighter (but less dense) and looks good on the outside.

For speakers that gets moved often (like for sound reinforcement) then I'd go with plywood because it is lighter while corners and edges might be more resistant to impacts.

    Again, it's only me ;-)

Agree with Lee. I'll add one more thing. If building inside the house (e.g., basement), I no longer use MDF. I absolutely hate MDF dust. I previously had a garage shop and never did mind working with MDF. Now I have a basement shop and prefer using 18mm Baltic Birch (never any other big box store ply).

Thank you both, When I made my pro cabinets of Baltic Birch 13 ply 5/8, the cabinet came out beautiful no splints, chips, Baltic or marine plywood are very dense and not light. What I want to know sonically for hifi is one better than the other, or once you used good plywood there is no difference.
    Thanks

I prefer the durability of ply along with its working properties. 3/4 is preferred IMO, I like a lot of bracing and strength in my cabs.
