I am looking to refoam and replace the spiders in my LE14H-1 while retaining the factory cones and coils.

But I am compelled to ask, why don't you just take, or ship, those woofers to a qualified technician and have them checked out and repaired and be done with it?
I just fail to see the benefit of talking about them endlessly and starting multiple threads asking questions about them?
They are obviously bothering you, you also stated one has a functional problem and now you are obsessing over their overall integrity both in parts and assembly
Have someone that knows what they are doing take a look at them and advise you as to what you need to do to get them up to spec and then have it done - maybe then you can quite worrying over them
Life is too short, it's a pair of woofers for goodness sake, have them fixed if they're bothering you so badly

No one in my state is trustworthy enough to do the repair and the only person in Australia I know of is 1000 miles away. I have sent him my 2108's and he did a fantastic job. I do intend to send him this pair and have spoken to him already.
I want to get all the parts together and send them down with the woofers so I am certain everything will be replaced with the correct parts.
Its not like the US where you have numerous speaker technicians who are experienced with vintage JBL drivers.
Perhaps a more direct method would be to ask for a component parts list from an experienced builder?

I've bought spiders in the past, but they didn't come with "stiffness ratings" AFAIK. It sounds like something they might be adding to Tinder soon though (someone HAD to go there, right?).

I have tried asking reputable repairer but haven't had a response. I think they are reluctant to let that information out as others could replicate there products. I understand there reluctance.
Hmmm...not all spiders have the same compliance so they have to be graded some how. They are not universal from my understanding.
Contact members Edgewound (Upland Loudspeaker, has website and email) or GordonW via Lansing Heritage or AudioKarma. They should have the info you need. In Australia, I recall there was a company called Speakerbits that sold all manner of driver parts for the trade, they might be able to help.

Speakerbits has some spiders with 100mm (4 inch) voice coil openings, some even specified for JBL, but not sure which specifically would work with LE14H-1

you could also contact some sellers of aftermarket recone kits for the LE14-1, especially if they sell the kit as just parts and not fully assembled,mother they might be able to sell you just the spiders or give you the info.

- Surround swap-outs on a 2204H ( to foam ) might just be plausible to kludge-up a quasi 2203H ( with a bit of cone weight added ).
Lot's of good reference material ( re; spider stiffness for JBL woofs ) here !
You'll also need a glue kit;

On that website it states that spider is meant to be interchangeable with a 121A spider. I have 121A's along with factory recone kits and the spiders are insanely stiff, certainly not a direct replacement for LE14H-1. Very apprehensive to pull the trigger on that one.
Although I do believe "C" is likely to be the stiffness rating I would like confirmation from someone who is 100%.

So spider stiffness is rated from A-F. I did not know that. It doesn't seem like many people are using that system.

I would guess to be "C", as LE14H-1 has relative low Fs, and VC length of about 19mm, so as 2234/35 or 2206.
