I love JBLs. My first were a pair of 4311wx that I still have. A friend installed the Zilch modes for better sound and I've been using them with my computer for 6 or 7 years now. They are 36 inches apart, 27" iMac between them and they are 36 inches from me seated in front of the computer. I have a McIntosh 1700 driving them. For the most part I am happy with them, but some songs don't sound that great. I would like to upgrade. I have been reading up on the 4410, 4411, and 4412, all of which are considered to be an substantial upgrade from the 4311 I currently use. I am a sucker for the white woofer cones, so the 4411 stands out. However, I've read that both the 4411 and 4412 should be place horizontally for best results. In the space on my desk, vertical works better for me. The 4410 is vertical.

Considering I am using these speakers 36" from my head and that they will be strictly near field, would the 4410 be my best choice?
I currently use L112 as my main, L96 in the bedroom, L100 Century in the garage and 4401 sometimes instead of the 4311.
I am a sucker for those white woofer cones!!!!! Based on appearance alone I am leaning to the 4411, but maybe the 4410 makes more sense?
I do want to upgrade and there is a pair of 4410 about 150 miles from me. For me that's within driving distance.

Ok, I'm done with the rambling. Any opinions would be appreciated!!!!
