NAD S200 powering my SUB1500´s

Hello my friends !!

I´m thinking of powering my 16 SUB1500´s with 4 NAD S200 ampfilters.
First i was thinking of the Rotel ampfilters but they have a high pass filter in
the lower region, and the NAD S200 dont have this. Some tests of the ampfilter
has been done, and it is very good in the things than the Rotel lack.

Here is a test of a older amp, the NAD 218THX wich is somewhat the same

The S200 delivers in stereomode

8 ohm 259 watt
4 ohm 461 watt
2 ohm 736 watt
1 ohm 988 watt

MCC pos: 143 amp
MCC neg: 166 amp.

..wich is somewhat a lot of power. And it´s nice also..







I have two of theese, so I just have to get two more. I use them to power my K2 s9500 and I like them very very much. very nice


Well well, I was thinking of letting the S200 power two SUB1500 each chanel,
so 4 SUB1500 on each ampfilter. Two would be some 2,5 ohms in a sealed
stuffed box about 2 - 3 cu.

It would give the drivers at least 200watts each, maybe sounds like little
but they are MANY - 16 drivers.. So I dont expect this to be any drawback.

I´m thinking of using two Bryston 7B SST monoblocks on my K2´s later on !!

what are you doing in the winter without any glas in the windows? 16 sub1500 will blow your glas away....I`ve heard that the winters in northern europe are very strong

BTW, wouldn't good PA amps (Crown, QSC etc) be suitable for this task?

That amp is in Norway, it´s expensive, to much and then the taxes and shipping
it makes it a bad buy for us in Sweden !

PA-amps, yes that would also work. But I´m in love with the clean design, and
i know these measure well in the sub-region where is important in this application where I´m just going to use them under 80hz or something like that.

I dont need that much power when there is 16 of them anyway.

Look at the martinlogan statement, they are powered by the Krell FPB 600
wich only delivers some 800watts. That is 100watts each driver.




This os also the design I tend to copy when it comes to my building plans of the big monster subs !!

This winter it will all start !!

You should definitely try a Crown K amp for sub duty before buying more s200. I have had the S200, a closer look revieled that it was basically a 218 with some components upgraded. It sounds nice but is way overpriced. I dont know what amps you have compared it to, but in comparison to a Crown K or Crown Studio Reference the bass region is very muddy on the S200.
