I bought a few copies at newsstands years ago. Sorry to hear about the end.

Good to hear they are available though.

Charles Kittleson was a truly fevered audiophile, though secretly a tortured soul who suffered an apparently fatal run-in with Bernie Madoff's criminal enterprise. He tried to promote local audio shows for a while, one of which I greatly benefited from. His heart was always in the right place audio-wise and I am greatly saddened by the way things turned out for him.

Can you provide insight on the tortured soul aspect and the financial fallout? Wasn't there also a medical issue? He had an astounding collection of vintage gear from what I understand.

As I understand it, Kittleson took his life as a result of major losses in the Madoff debacle. I do not have more detailed information.

    Thanks!

    Got them, very interesting.

I would love to get similar access to The Audio Amateur and Speaker Builder. Somehow, I don't know why, I did not keep my issues.

    Thanks again.

I have all of the issues of Vacuum Tube Valley in print edition

I was at one time an acquaintance of a few of the bunch involved in it's production and especially one notable contributor

I will say just one thing - take ALL new product reviews, new at the time of publication anyway (read: singing of high praise) with a grain of salt

The magazines's only usefulness or interest to me was it's technical and historical articles, usually with obscure or interesting photos and drawings attached, and even those articles were rife with errors

Just enjoy perusing it but don't ever bank on anything it tells you without verifying it first

"CK" could be difficult to deal with even in the best of times and was often very rude and definitely biased (no pun intended) equipment wise and would not hesitate to let you know it

The magazine has been available, off and on, on-line for some time now:
