    Speaker polarity in guitar amps

Over the years I have seen many Fender amps with "D" series speakers wired incorrectly (black wire to black terminal), which I believe is wrong. The ¼"phone plug tip white wire should go to the black speaker terminal. Correct?

Is amp-to-speaker polarity even important in guitar amps?

    Thanks.

In single speaker applications it would make no difference. Different story in duo's and quads etc.
