    Bi Amping

My current diy speaker have the following components:

2405/2440/Hartsfield lens/k145 house in an 8 cu ft bass reflex box

tri-wired in an external crossover @ 500Hz and 9K Hz with terminals for bi-amping.

Currently it is driven by a diy 300B set mono blocks.

I am thinking of acquiring another set of amp maybe push pull kt88/6550 based tube amp or a solid state amp to augment the lower frequency.

Comments and suggestions are most welcome.

    Thanks In Advance.

Fun system! Dynamic, max efficiency. Realistic. But, not sure bi-amping will do what you are looking for. I suspect a different woofer with more low frequency extension or perhaps a sub-woofer would give you the deeper bass you are looking for. The latter would probably be the optimum choice - maintain your present max efficiency with more powerful, deep bass. Bi-amping does good things, particularly in terms of maximum high power performance but not necessarily more relative bass. I've done both, depends what you are looking for (both can sound very good indeed). If you like the way your present rig sounds, I'd be hesitant to tear everything up and start over. Just augment what you've got. MM

    Hi MM!

Thanks for the input. Will see if I can audition a powered subwoofer.

Good show - interesting experiment! Also, found being able to move the sub around for best room acoustics an added benefit. Useful tool. An RTA helps even more. Many ways to skin a cat / one test is worth 1000 expert opinions! Let us know what you find. MM
