I believe this is true for most of the passive radiators (the various sizes have an accompanying LE-xx or pro product
with magnet assembly and cone/coil added)

I have done a measurement on my old PR8 and to me it looks like they are built on same basket, couldnt see any differences between the two baskets (PR8 and LE8T)
also, the PR8 baskets looks to be same as for the LE8T-H except for the placing of the binding posts (has been changed on newer models)

A skilled JBL engineer ( also, a top-shelf reconer ) can approximate almost any of these Legacy drivers ( with some caveats ).

In this case, it's somewhat harder than one assumes .

Read this thread since it reveals the 2108 top-plate's thickness ( gap-depth )

In a nut-shell, ( apart from original 112a/2108a magnetic assemblies with their unique 9mm deep top-plates ) I don't think that there aren't any other 3" ( legacy, Alnico magnetic assemblies ) that incorporate this .35" deep gap ( that can be harvested/ & then grafted onto the le8t frame ). OTOH, I suspect the 2122H ( ferrite magnet ) might have used the thicker top-plate.

Anyways ( IMHO ) one is better off starting out with the 2" wide VC ( of the le8t ) and utilizing it's existing 1/2" deep gap to create an under-hung VC hoping to maintain @ 3-4mm of linear Xmax. Cone weight, vc height ( along with it's weight ) and suspensions will need to be carefully chosen, so as to approximate a bona-fide 2108a.

bldozier, you're trying trying to make a 4315?

I've often thought a decent "franken-clone" of the 4315 could be done using LE14 and a 2118. And if I couldn't find the LE5/2105, then use LE5-9 or -11, or maybe a 104H for the mid. Those 2405s are hard to get, so maybe a pair of 044Ti or 052Ti tweeters. A vertical line is supposed to be better than the 4315 driver placement, so maybe build a taller box. Slanted to one side....maybe leaning back a bit.... sounding familiar yet....?

2405's are actually fairly common. the alnico versions are a little less common, but still findable. The ferrite versions which are front mount only are pretty common. The hard part is making sure they have a bona fide OEM JBL diaphragm in working order, instead of a bad aftermarket diaphragm.
