    JBL E145 and K 145

    Greetings!

    I have a franken (ribbed cone) K145-8 installed in a ported 8 cu ft box. My friends and I did a comparison and the K145 with original cone sounded much better that I ended buying the extra K145-8 from my friend.

    I'm thinking of keeping the E145 and replacing it with after market cone since I can't find original ones.

    Question is has anybody used the after market cones and how do the sound compare with the original cone.

    Assuming the after market cones will sound much like the original, can I combine the E and K 145 in the same box? What will be the changes needed in the cross over.

    System:
    2405 tweeter/Hartsfield lens-2440 CD and currently K145.
    Cross over 500Hz/9000Hz

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi;

    I don't know all the differences between the E and K drivers but, JBL parts stock reports they have:

    1ea C8RE145 cone kit in stock

    8ea C16RK145 cone kits in stock

    I don't know if that could get you where you want to be.

    Barry.

    Hi Chito;

    What I meant to say is that I don't know all the differences like why the kits don't swap back and forth.

    Any authorized JBL speaker repair center can purchase these kits. It is possible that the one C8RE145 kit is an inventory error but they show they have it.

    I hope that you can find a shop in your local that can help you. I just wanted to forward you the information of what is currently available in genuine JBL.

    All the best,
    Barry.
