Sucks, for more reasons than one, but can hardly be characterized as a "cash grab"
Proprietary, brand specific plugs and sockets are hardly anything new
The original PlayStation comes to mind; after the first year it was on the market SONY eliminated the ubiquitous RCAs out option for the audio component..............didn't seem to slow them down
This sort of move could actually hurt them, but I seriously doubt it, and if it does it'll only "hurt" for about 2 seconds
