    Altec 802C driver Specs

If anyone out there has this info I would be so very grateful for you passing this along.
I have looked everywhere with absolutely no luck. Please and thank you.

I've searched hi and lo on the web and in my reference material and cannot find anything that differenciates the 802C from the 802D. While I cannot find a single spec sheet on the "C" model, I found numerous applications in which the 802C was specified in Altec systems that later specified the "D" model in it's place. Wish I could have helped more, but I'm stumped.

Casual observation ( gleaned over at least a decade of eBay sales ) indicates that the 802C was a driver fairly different than those that followed .

    Some ( sort of ) facts :

    (i) Pics of drivers having original diaphragms always show a DC reading of @ 7 to 9 ohms .

    - This would strongly suggest the driver could have been classified as an 12 ohm driver ( which Altec did with some of the woofers from the same time period ) .
    - The 802D ( & the later variants ) series of drivers had 2 distinct AC impedances ( 8 ohm & 16 ohm ) and their dcr reading were well below, or above this earlier measurement point ( meaning the 802C's diaphragm might have been unique to that model) .

(ii) The 802C existed in two distinct variants.
    - The earlier Grey Version with the Krinkle Paint.

    - And then the Altec Green version with the smoother type paint .

    A Big thank you

This forum is absolutely awesome. I have one more lead from a guy in LA that has used these drivers for years. He is my last hope
otherwise I will build it and they will come. No that's not how it goes. Whatever. Thank you both.

With JBL being the dominant force nearly everywhere, it's good to hear anything about anybody doing anything with Altec. So, what are you doing? I'm currently gearing up for a winter build based around 511b horns, 802d drivers, and 416-8z woofers. It's going to be a notably retro-inspired build based on the Altec 606 corner cabinet with period decor and walnut or mahogany veneer. The horns will be externally mounted. Crossover will be at 800Hz and based on the Z19/Hiraga/Altec contour designs. Just wondering what you are up to?
