Too many audiophiles listen with their eyes instead of their ears
Made me think of "the beam" which then spun off to a Garth Hudson soundtrack for an exposition I saw in 1980 at the LA Science Museum... Thanks for the link and subsequent mental ride

Listening to that on my computer speakers with their 3" woofer is an exercise in the absurd.
This got me going on a string of videos & recordings of Rinat Ibragimov, the great double bassist, and then Yo Yo Ma.
I'm 6 foot 2 and played the upright bass for 7 years and can honestly say there's no way 1 person could play that. There would have to be one with a bow and one on the finger board. Still neat though. There's been some crazy instruments made over the many years.
The Stroh violin comes to mind. A doctor Seuss instrument.
Nick
Nadya Suleman could easily play that thing.
Anyone could play it as it is fretted with mechanical levers.
