Texture on blue JBL baffles once again

How to get the texture on the grey utility cabinets and blue baffles has been discussed here years ago, but there is no definitive answer as far as I can find. Seems like KenRick sound has pin pointed a good method which is close enough for comfort, but not found it publicly available.

I've thought about using car body filler on a roller to get a pointy surface and then sand it down to a few mm. Can't imagine it being good enough. Any input?

Another thing is grinding PVC into very fine dust and putting it in the primer and, putting that on with a roller.

    Any other ideas?

Thickish paint with high solids through a lowish pressure spray rig will give a ' spatter' effect.

Google 'spatter finish' Duratex is the US paint used on PA boxes. Tuff Cab in the UK but not in JBL blue

Thank you. Are you suggesting to spray Duratex or Tuff Cab or are you talking about two methods here?

Another idea: Just remembered I had seen something similar a while back. Dug this up. It's some kind of product in Germany.

It's not quite there in terms of color and texture, but could work well as a mid coat maybe?
