Don't know what happened in the sequence. Just think in reverse! One more that did not make it: Crossover repair. Replaced the HF section caps. They were smoked, so were the 2405 diaphragms.

All internals looked to be original with exception of the woofers. Date on cabinets was early 1980. Tweeter diaphragms were anodized blue, but both were open. Replaced with the pricey JBL diaphragms. Opened one of the mid. horns. Diaphragm looked to be original. Aluminum with spiral surround.

The imaging is vastly improved. I would say that it is right up there with the 44 series which IMO is outstanding. Timber and clarity are top notch. I think these beasts hold up very well with todays offerings. I also have a pair of 6332s that I consider very accurate, and they compare well. As is usually something that JBLs are noted for, dynamic range is excellent.
