What would you build from JBL drivers if you could get all components JBL manufacture

Just for dreamers and Diy guys! If you could get anything from JBL components (2269h, D2, mids, 1500 AL2, etc) and build a dream system made from the latest high-tech drivers/horns.

    Wait for your wishes...

If I were to build my dream system, I prefer old school components.

I'm pretty sure that JBL has already built a good number of dream systems for us.

1200fe on the low end and the m2 horn mated with the fanciest wide bandwidth beryllium diaphragm driver they make...whatever that is.
W1500Hs in separate bass bins because I'll probably want them.

With absolutely no intended dissrespect I will choose my words with care:

I used to feel this way too. Having been very fortunate in obtaining some of the new drivers like the 1500Al and Fe series woofers as well as the 476Be and Mg drivers I have changed my mind nearly wholesale.

My ultimate small space DIY system will be a full DSP DD6700 system.

Large format is another story. Currently 1950'- 1970's fare there, all horn loaded of course.

    Barry.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.

    My design...

2206/2447 on 2332 horn passive x-over with 1501Fe's for sub duty with their own amp.

Horns are almost on the way to me today....

    so, may be:
    per box: 2269 + 2202 (or small-3" VC 2216ND) + 476Be & H4365 (H9800 or H9900) + 2405 (or 076)

    regards

I would like to have 4348 units (or the modern day SOTA equivalents from JBL) in fresh 4343WX cabinets.

I would use modern JBL components but would improve on cabinet fabrication and volume. Many speakers are undersized to help please a broader audience where the WAF matters. Not necessarely for the benefit of sound quality. Also, some cabinets are no the stiffest because when they are lighter, they also are cheaper to fabricate and ship.

Man I'd like to have a system you describe!... but with which horn for the mid? Wow! 4 way system! I would temporarily hide them behind a screen for WAF!

    Hi maxserg,

I would expect the size almost as 4345, so somebody can say "book-shelf" size.

    Clone 212, not anymore

    With a pair of 052Ti tweeters, 2105, 112A.
the speakers I've build I would not even call clone or, Custom 212, as the only component common to the L212 are the 112A mid-bass drivers.
Gone are the 066, le5-9, the wide baffle, rectangular box, original XO.

Instead a system turned 90* from the L212, which have a tapered, declined narrow baffle, biased XO, rounded edges, soft vinyl covering. It produces a soundstage the likes I've never heard. and I've auditioned some very top o line speakers.
Oh, their name, HELENE...named after my favorite female singer
