Any ideas on an outdoor music sub?

I have a pair of control 28's I am going to put on a deck. I would like to have a little more bass. Anyone ever built an outdoor music sub? I'm not sure where to start. It would have a roof over it but could receive blowing rain at times.

    Thanks

    Hello,
I'm not up on consumer products but I do a lot of outdoor installations in the commercial market. JBL might have a LF companion for the 28s? I think you might look at other products and adapt some ideas into your own. The Community R2 Sub is way too large for your home, but the principle is good. It's an all fiberglass enclosure that points down with some small legs so it's not on the ground.

What manufacturer's have found is it's not really the winter that destroy's cabinets but summers. If you have a wooden cabinet with fiberglass over it, one or two summers are going to turn that wood into mash. Most winters have dry air, most summers have a lot of condensation (something that some manufacturer's learned the hard way by having to replace 2-300 speakers under warranty at one raceway).

I hope this helps a little,
    Radley

Used SB210 units pop up now and then.

Haven't used one, but seem purpose built for this.

Not real -sub- woofer category, but could bolster the low end when
added to JBL's control line satellites.

We use them and they work quite well... not for disco dance parties, but to augment the bottom end outdoors.

Sonance may have you covered http://www.sonance.com/outdoor/sonan...ies/subwoofers.

As mentioned condensation is your enemy , along with spiders , rodents and anything else that can make a home in the box.
Hence ported enclosures are out , paper cones are out etc.

Thanks, I have been looking for a deal on an SB210. I don't need a real sub, just for casual music on the deck.

Those are nice but kind of pricey.
