    Question Jbl 2480

Please tell me more about JBL 2480. Is it sound like 2441? Can I use with 3105 crossover ?
    Thanks,

    Hi
As You can see from the JBL data , 2480 has less response over 5kHz then 2441/5/6. Its membrane is not Aluminum or Titanium. I think it is not suitable for Hi-Fi home listening.

    copper

4" coil PHENOLIC diaphram...able to go much lower in response than Al or Ti at the expense of the high end due to heavier moving mass.

The 2480 ( 375HP / Dukane 5P360) had a copper voice coil like the sister 2460 ( 175HP / Sunn LE100s ) and both were changed to Al coil wire in the late 70's to become 2482 and 2461 respectively.

They are probably the smoothest sounding driver for vocals but you *have* to have high end augmentation for music playback.

Do you think 2480 will work good or make sound better with 2350 horn? now I put on 537-500 and sound like mid-low.

    Hi Eddycycles,

Expect-able response of 2480 driver can be seen:
    http://www.audioheritage.org/vbullet...full=1#post520

May be You can upgrade 2480 drivers with the Radian 1282-8/16 diaphragm, especially if You use 2350 Horn

    http://www.avsuperstore.com/PDF/RADIAN-1282.pdf

In that Radian data spec. it is said: "....Converts 2482 From MID-RANGE only to Full-Range Driver......"

I have only experience with the Radian 1245-16 diaphragms mounted into the 2441 JBL drivers. I can say that up to the 10kHz they are very good.
I have used them with JBL 2307+2308 horn-lenses combo, in my DIY 4333 speakers

    You can seen measurements results,

Pay attention that on my measurements the vertical resolution is 2.5dB regards Ivica
