    JBL/UREI 6260 Amp. Any Good??

    Have a chance to purchase a 6260 amp......decent??
Did JBL produce their amps or did they farm them out??
In the past, I found several for sale but they have always been beat up. This one is NOS and dated 1986. What is it worth?
    Thanks, Geno

Good amp, don't know how they fare on 110V in the USA but the trafo's on the 220V models get very, very hot when run on 230V.

They sound quite laidback, not to everyone's taste. Buld quality is very good.

Those are JBL/UREI amps and are fairly nice. I ran one each 6230 and 6260 when I biamped
a pair of JBL 4341 monitors and they did nicely.
The higher powered 6290 has an internal fan that can be annoying - the other 2 do not.

Price (Value) always depends on where you are and what local demand is,
but I'd say they are worth having.

The 6260 goes between €150 and €200 here, depending on the condition.

The components used are high quality, for example the enormous Sanken output transistor, you can find them in big Denon, Yamaha etc. amps.
They may have a lot of headroom for improvement - different op-amps, better quality caps etc.

    p.s
You might also want to modifiy their XLR inputs, the 62xx series uses the old style pin 3 HOT connection.
