i like JBL l19, i really like them

    Hello guys,
    my first post here.

i had friend's L19 for a few days here at my home, and i must say that i am impressed.
i googled them and found that they are the same as 4301b, at least people say they are the home version of 4301b.
but i noticed 4301b has a different dimensions, which can affect the sound (better or worse), and different crossover, and even bass.

why i ask this? i ask because i have on my mind to actually buy 4301b instead of L19.
here where i live they are 250-300euros in good condition.

    my questions:
    1. which sound better 4301B or L19?
    2. which were more expensive when came out?
    3. i noticed there are two versions of L19, L19 and L19A. which one has a better sound?

    Thank you

    Welcome to Lansing Heritage!

I don't have an answer to any of your questions, sorry. Hopefully someone here does.

    Barry.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.

I have both the consumer and pro versions of the latter revisions...
I enjoy the 4301B more... at least partly due to personal aesthetic considerations.
    The cabinet also seems sturdier.

The earlier versions had alnico magnets, the latter ferrite.
The components were functionally identical otherwise.

In the crossover, the LF section capacitor is slightly different value... perhaps due
to slightly different tunings of the cabinets or designer preferred voicing.

    L19/L19A ... $150 ea ca 1977
    4301WX .. 168 ea ca 1977
    4301BWX ... $180 ea ca 1980

Thank you for this valuable information.

while L19 speakers were here, first i placed them on my infinity reference floorstanding speakers, and didn't like the sound very much, but when i placed them on the ground the sound was much better.

What is the right position for this speakers? i guess they should be up from the ground, but not much. should the tweeter be in the same height as my ears?

Given the heritage... probably nearfield, in a fairly small room, tweeters roughly at ear level, sitting on a mixing console,
where there would be some boundary reinforcement (similar to setting them on the floor).

You'll have to figure out the best compromise. You could put them on angled stands (front tilted up)
near the floor if that helps. Or with the backs near a wall.
