Suggestion for Altec 421-8h II+511b+808-8a+n1209-8a amplifier!

Hello! I have 421-8h II speakers, in 612 cab and 808-8a with 511b. Using n1209-8a dividing network.
Тhey are in very good shape. I love their sound. I had the opportunity to compare it with modern high end and was pleasantly surprised.
I would like to optimize them. Now playing with Mission Cyrus 2. I would like to try tube amplifier. I do not know what would be appropriate.
What about A323 or A1520T or 353a stereo? Or some others?
Is it necessary to use tube amplifier for 421-8h or only for 808-8a? Do I need n1209-8a or to try without it, or to use it for 808-8a?
I need opinion for tube amp for 755a in 618cab too.
    Thanks! Iskren.

    Greetings iskren -

The 421-8H II was designed for electric bass, but it was also used in the Stanley Screamer sub-woofer enclosures. Not much finesse if you plan to use them for HiFi. They need to be in a very large enclosure to squeeze any super low frequency out of them. The 612 however, would be a comfortable volume for that driver. The single 15" Screamer enclosure was just under 16 cubic feet in volume, but it produced some very solid bass. They don't make for very good horn drivers either unless they're loaded in an A7 size enclosure. In the early 70's, I owned eight of them for my bass rig that were prototype 4x15 Quilter cabinets (now known as QSC Audio Products), which were later enlarged and called the Big Bertha, which was originally loaded with the 421A. A well earned name, as it was 48" tall x 33.25 wide x 24" deep.

As for ALTEC crossovers? Pfft! I recommend building your own, or have some designed for you, that is unless you're using your components for sound reinforcement. It isn't necessary to use vacuum tube power, as the 421-8H II is a bit of a sledge hammer. The 755 on the other hand would do quite nicely on the back side of a vacuum tube amplifier.
