    Reminds me of one of those units the military used for testing hardware under high SPL and/or ULF conditions.

    This thing showed up yesterday morning on one of the local ad pages. They guy was giving it away. I was first caller but more than an hour drive. I never got a second call back. Maybe someone offered him some money.

    Still wish I knew what it was.

    Perhaps some kind of Civil Defense Air Raid siren??
    maybe a mobile one ... that would fit with the car battery connection ...

    That's where my mind wandered too, especially looking at the
    noisemaker end (probably not long/low-freq enough for lighthouse duty).

    So it this an amusing puzzle with an answer? or a continued curiosity?

    Is it a horn, or some kind of funneling device? Grain, or dry product, perhaps…? Covered with corrugated metal it would be a darn good replica of a Mercury capsule..
