Worthwhile reading before you decide to go hi volume digital. I have about a Tb in music and use the Realtek and I think it sounds great.

Yep, agreed. No need to spend more than $2 for a DAC these days, that Realtek is the real deal!

My PC's power supply croaked today , so I whipped out the big VAIO laptop , not really a hardship since
it has a 19" screen and faster CPU and bigger HD

It's been off so long that a bunch of updates were needed. Noticed that one was a Realtek driver.
It has a 6 speaker audio system (with a sub) and SRS , always thought it sounded great

Any decent speed PC, large hard drive and a now no longer manufactured Logitech Squeezebox Duet available on ebay. PC is on network and unit receiver connects to network. Audio amp connects to receiver via line level connection or digital.

The remote controller shows the album cover assuming there is a pic of it in the album folder. Software still available and there is an active forum community.

The power supply on my 2003 Dell tower finally died , so
I grabbed the big (19 inch 3 gun) screen Sony laptop. It has the
same size HD & RAM , but faster proc.
Taking my time replacing the PS as the Sony is somewhat of an upgrade.

Anyway, despite having the much appreciated Realtek DAC , my ESS/Sonance combo
sounded better on the Dells Audigy 2XZ card.

Went back and fished the external 24/192 DAC from the living room (I posted about it
in an old thread that I can't find) BMW Phil bought one too. A very versatile, multi-ip-op special.

Holy Crap , it sure made a huge difference iTunes/Pandora sound stellar.

Maybe Phil remembers the brand...it is Ch1nese and under $50 delivered from the PRC.
Unsure what I can do to make it sound better ? Very happy with this temp solution.

Oh here >>> I found the link .... nice. price went down & now shipped from USA .
