    Query on JBL 5235 cards

    Hi,

I have the urei 5235 with the 4345 cards (51-5145). It says 18 db/octave. May I know if I were to use it with non-jbl speakers, do I need to reverse the high frequency drivers?

i read somewhere that 18 db/octave cards are 3 rd order and therefore there is no phase shift between the high and low outputs. Is that true?

    Thanks.

There is always some phase shift through a crossover. It is aproximately 90 degrees per pole so an 18Db network will give you 270 degree's. Your best bet is to try it both ways to see which sounds best. If you have a measurement system you can see which way sums the best through the crossover.
