help me identify driver, should be a 2226h

    hey guys,

I'm buying a couple of 2226h drivers, but they has no stickers one them and i would like to make sure they actually are 2226h drivers...

only things i have to go on are a couple of numbers on the baskets…
white ink 64J and sticker J088-050003

anybody who can clarify what model these drivers really are?

    best regards

.....the important consideration is whether they have original or replacement JBL factory cones and not knock-offs....

the baskets should be fairly easy to identify as 2226s? see pics link below

Do the baskets have three breathing holes in the motor?

Hey robert and thanks for taking the time to help me

no they don't have the 3 breathing holes as all the pictures(why didn't i notice that myself ).

I'm sure they are not reckoned and that they are original jbl drivers.
The store that sold these drivers originally bought a large quantity when the jbl factory in denmark shut down.
they did at some point have a lot of drivers from jbl that was made for the synthesis series.

any other clues to how to tell which driver it is?

    best regards

possibly 136HS from synthesis sub, without the bucking magnet...

that looks like a lot of aquaplas on the back, and the terminals look
    too new for a 2225...

136HS has another frame and magnet, my guess is 2225H:

Hey guys, and thanks for all the answers

i got the answer from the owner of the shop who have sold these drivers from new.
it is the 136hs as suggested! that shop has sold a lot of these drivers so at the danish used markets its more normal to see the 136hs for sale than the 2226h and at a lower price.(sucks because i need a pair of 2226h, not more sub drivers).

    best regards

136HS would have the bucking magnet shown in Grumpy's post. If someone tried to take it off, that would prpbably leave a mark or glue residue. Those are probably 2225H.

thanks for your answer, all input is appreciated

yes that is right, at least if this drive had been taken out of a synthesis sub at some point…
these driver has never gotten to the assemblyline of the synthesis speakers…
could be very possible that these bucking magnets was something that was added in the assembly of the complete speakers.

lol.. bit of a mystery. 2225 would have been my first knee-jerk
response, but I'm still hung up on the terminals and aquaplas...

How about a 2225 frame with 2235 cone kit with a cloth surround? I guess the terminals may have been replaced at sometime.

Look at the picture above I posted, 2225 also came With newer terminals But I agree about the aquaplas... that does not look like 2225.

But if the shop says 136HS I belive that it might be correct, but a slightly other version than normal (tere have been "many" 136HS for sale in Denmark). Remember this is Denmark (previous the European HQ of JBL) there have been several other "special versions" there, remember LE1400H?

The voice coil is the key. The 136 uses the 2245 coil so has the added benefit of a higher power rating than the 2225.
