Looking for advice re (vintage) JBL

Hi all, newbie alert here. Just joined this forum to learn about (vintage) JBL speakers. I'm a life long music freak and my music taste started with Donna's 'I feel love' and everything after that that is (obscure) disco, (old school) House, Dance, Italo, you name it. If it was played in the clubs in the '80-s, I like it. Those were my teen years and in the clubs I was always impressed with the JBL speaker systems.
Nowadays also the occasional cuddle together on the couch music is also appreciated, but my heart is with the club scene music.

Nowadays I'm a family man (hahaha) and my system is vintage Accuphase C222 and P266, a LAD turntable, lotsa 12" and the occasional streaming. Recently we moved homes and I had to give up my dedicated music room. It was very small, but treated acoustically and the Amphion Athene speakers were Spot On with decent low (due to small room). Now in the new living room (4 by 8 meters) they just don't do it anymore for me... So to compliment my vintage gear I'd like to add this old love, JBL speakers...

But I have no clue which one?! I'm looking for low end you can lean on (well, I like lows) also on low(er) volumes, but must be controlled (NO BOOM!), and they just have to make my feet tap...

Visually they should be appealing too. For example, the NEW (not vintage...) 4306 are really great looking speakers, although I doubt the 8" woofer will fulfil my low end needs. Budget is around 2000 Euro's.

    THANKS!!!!

    Welcome to the forum

It's good to see new members especially from Europe.

There is a guy in Amsterdam that restores ' vintage ' JBL , I'll find his details for you.
My own suggestion meeting your requirements is the 240ti.
If you look at Hi Fi shark you can get an idea of the $$$ involved.
Also keep a close eye on the experience on new member in Norway here

    http://www.audioheritage.org/vbullet...40Ti-vs-L-150A

It's quite a big speaker but actually no bigger than a pair of L100 on stands.
The star of the show is the 14" LE14H bass driver.

Anyway these can be found for less than 1500E

Thanks Macarooni! I will have a look for these 240ti's.

I am not aware of this person in Amsterdam, but I did 'meet' a guy in the south of the Netherlands restoring vintage JBL. Good to have some of these addresses.

There is a pair of L150 for sale in the NL (with a lot of TLC needed), two of L65 Jubal. One set in bad shape, missing the glass (?) top plates. And 4408, L19, L26...

Guess I have to wait... ;-)

Thanks! Good to get a double reference: I've already contacted him. Others were referring to him as well.

    He has great gear. Superb!
