I'm not sure if the TADs are more room friendly or not, but I've talked to Andrew Jones at length about his "set up"... he typically spends about a week before the show dialing in his room and demo. It is no accident that his presentations are frequently superior. Having a great system and his decades of experience don't hurt either.

Yeah, I have been to the TAD demos several years @ CES now. It is a truly great experience. It got my best sound of the show year after year. I suspect CES 2015 won't be any different.
