Why do they DO that, to cover up where they messed up the cone edge takin' the old ones off?
Driver with that much excursion does it matter?

That's a good question. It may not if not pushed to its limits.Originally posted by Zilch

Even if you refoam them yourself, at the BIN it's not a bad price.
Not a good price, either, really. Up until last year some time these were still available new for about $260. Don't know if that's still true.

Zilch you beat me to it!! Why do they do that??? It's not that hard to get the old foam off. With the travel they have it probably doesn't unless you really push them hard. For that money it should be right.

I'll take a stab at it. It's because the directions that come with the foam repair kit tell you too. They say you can do from the back "if" you want it to look stock, but they urge you to apply it to the front of the cone. At least the ones from "Simply Speakers" do.Why do they DO that

Its easier to do it this way, and since the ones from simply Speakers urge the DIY,er to do it this way, I could actually see a seller arguing the point that it is done properly because it is the recommended way in the instructions!
And of course, believe it or not, there are many who just dont know what they are looking at, and since it looks nice, will buy it, not fully knowing it isnt a proper refoam! At least not to JBL specification.
Course, if no one buys it, then I guess somebody was paying attention! I have seen things on Ebay that didnt move, either overpriced, or incorrect item.
Instant core status with a net worth of $40 to $80 depending on transducer model.Originally posted by Zilch
