JBL C46 Minigon Original Finish Options

Hello. I have a question about original finishes for JBL minigon. I have the original booklet which reads walnut, tawny walnut and ebony, but my pair has a lacquered or clear coat. It seems from reading the booklet that a lacquered finish is not original. the wood looks like a tawny walnut. I am wanting to restore to original, so my question is if its possible to strip clear coat and sand then watco finish for an original oil finish.

The 2 pairs I have seen that were original had a walnut with lacquer finish.

I would try Howard's Walnut Restore A finish first. It worked great on my L300's after an extremely light sanding with 400 grit sandpaper.
