Yes, a HUGE difference between them! 4430 is a very dynamic 2 way ... 4435 is a MONSTER!

    Senorita James is correct.
And I'd take the 4435 anytime over the 4430 ;-)

    Yeah they're twice the size!

I have them both and the big difference to me is the clarity in the midbass at higher volume. The single 2235 in the 4430 gets muddy when you lean on it and that is largely a result of increasing distortion in the low frequency and the harmonics load up the upper bass. The 4435's have a full order of magnitude lower distortion with the two 2234's and what's apparent when you lean on them is what's not there, that stands out. It's the 1.75" driver that runs out of gas in the 4435.

Seems like a pair is now in my future, too.
Unexpectedly, I've got a lead on a pair of 4435s locally and I think I'm going for it!
I'm going for an audition soon, and they apparently WILL fit in the back of my CRV.
I gather the trick is pull the drivers and move the empty cabinets ... then reassemble at the final location.
Don't think they'll fit in my TV room - so they'll get the Plant room space where the L200 3ways lived!

More info when I know more!

I wouldn't take them apart. That adds risk in my book.

Thanks, but - they are like 225-250lbs each with drivers on board ...
My back isn't what it was in my 20s when I could haul my Triumph twin out of a creekbed ...
I have to be way more methodical with lifting now.

Anyway, they are fairly local -so if I had to make 2 trips,
one for cabinets, one for the 6 drivers, its not a show stopper.

My current upstairs system has an integrated Jolida tube system 60w/ch,
but I have a B&W Pro5 preamp plus either a Carver PM-175 or a Bryston 4bNRB (none are currently in use).

It'll be nice to have you back where you belong!
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers

I never left, just wound up with a smaller collection!

And you know, I count the 4 pairs of UREIs as JBLs too!

    I get that.

I admit to being a big dumb animal but I didn't lift and load mine myself and neither will you, drivers in or not.

Maybe you did! But the rest of the stuff you played with and are still moving out . . .

Just kidding, of course. If I'm up that way this weekend maybe I can offer you a hand, or a back!

Yeah, me too... though highly unlikely that I'll be out your way.

I hope it all works out and you get them home safely!

The Von Schweikert VR-4s are staying for the foreseable future ...

and if you are here this weekend or the next, let me know!
My plans are to demo them this weekend, and move them next weekend ...

You know, the Capital Audiofest is in Rockville, MD this weekend -
I think (some of) the Midatlantic listening team will be there around 11AM tomorrow ...

I work every Saturday. Sunday this week, too, but I might bag it and drive to NOVA to look at another car.

I have more cars than JBLs—if you count a pair of speakers as one JBL. And that's saying a lot.
