Guido mdf H9800 clones that need work.

Well the H9800's arrived from Herve but I have a few issues;

Here's what I was expecting:



..and nice crisp cnc'd throats like this one:



Here's what I have:



A festival of dodgy drilling but more importantly the throat entrance isn't circular and the horizontal curve at the throat is bumpy. It looks like an epoxy filler was used for the repair.

If I'd known of these issues before hand I'd never have bought them.

Thing is I need info on what was used for this throat repair so I can put things right......

If it does and you can do a good clean up job why not make a mould with this horn and cast a pair of clones from resin or other material .....there is always a silver lining old chap.(I mean they did such a good job of negatively engineering it in the first place)

"dodgy drilling": Sorry, there were holes in 2435, I drilled for my 2451 and new holes too close to the previous one. it is not visible so no serious

The black makes it difficult to photograph but the irregularities/bumps can be seen here.



2 nervous hours and one half down...3 to go...




fortunately matching the mold/template of the 'good' throats thus far only required removal of filler. The lacquer/coating/filler looks hard but is soft as sugar.

It may get a bit of a pain if I need to build/add material..

Finally the 'repairs' have been repaired

Done! Phew!!







Just some respraying and plate hole drilling and they're good to go.

Something tells me that you might as well sand all the black paint, then reseal with catalyzed primer just to make sure there will be no reaction between the new paint and the old surface. It can be frustrating to prepare a surface and see bubbles or wrinkles start as soon as you pray it. It will be well worth it at the end.

Bought these to compare to my own H9800 clones.Filling and redrilling is no big deal just annoying.
I think I will take the black back and refinish them with a less gloss more satin/matt black.

Guido must ask for what engine it manufactures its plates. I sold my 2430 before trying H9800 and I redid my holes for 2451.
