Nope. E140 has a stronger magnet. 7/8" thick. The 2235 is 3/4" thick. The 2235 cone fits but it does not make a 2235,

Has anyone ever measured E140's with 2235 guts to see what they look like?

    Yup.

I would say that if you were replacing a driver in an otherwise stock system like a 4430 you would/may hear the difference. If your building a project, I wouldn't sweat it. I have that exact combination in my own 4430's.

If I ever find the measurements I will post them.

    Barry.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.

But my experience is that the sound character of the lower frequency region is different. Comparison has been done with 2231A vs E140/2235ReCone using 2.2mH + 20uF Low-pass passive filter.
I think that 2235H vs E140/2235ReCone would be very similar.

I was temporarily using E140's with 2235 kits in them in my 4430's when I refoamed the 2235's and I didn't notice any difference, but then, the room is so full of speakers and musical equipment a fair judgement can't be made.

I got my 2205s (reconed to 2235s) back today. They look great but I have yet to install and listen. I'll report back when I do but I just thought I'd keep everything tidy and neat here and update this thread.

They're awesome! Thanks for asking. I've done a few things since them including raising them up on stands, replacing l-pads, bypassing the biamp switch and it's made a world of difference. The bass response is fantastic but I still augment the bottom end with my 2242 sub.

It bothers me that I can't fix my broken picture links. I'd used a private folder on Facebook to hotlink to and it appears they changed the names of my photos and I can't go back and edit my posts to fix them.

    Regards,

    Warren

    Yes. It worked out great.

When I bought the 4430s they had 2234s (as labelled on the back) in them with a different kind of replacement foam job. Since I was unsure if there was a mass ring and knew that the foam was not similar to OEM I went with the re-coned 2205s to make sure the monitors were acoustically correct.

I have some Rick Cobb 2235 foams and can at least bring the 2234s up to spec when I have a chance...still unsure if they have a mass ring or not.

    Cheers,

    Warren
