Opinions needed for JBL AM 4315/64 components.......

In particular, the JBL CMCD-61H Cone Midrange Compression Driver, and the JBL 2407H/MTA High Frequency Compression Driver. I'm quite sure that I have a chance to purchase several of these monitors that are being removed from an installation due to an "upgrade" (not sure what they are upgrading to). Just curious if these components have potential in a different cabinet more suited to home use. The woofer in this AM 4315/64 is the JBL 2033H 15 inch driver. Thanks in advance for any info you may have. Paul

    no bass

that 15 is a pretty tight suspension and the box is too small for any real mod to get more LF response. Possibly if you substituted the 12" 2214H with an adapter and retuned but then you need to change part of the crossover and really drop the MF/HF level but that would be much closer to the "stereo" use you want.

    all a matter of bucks.

Found the specs for the woofer but can't......

find much info on the mid or the tweeter. Just trying to determine if these parts can be put to use in a larger cabinet with a better JBL woofer. I have a few extra 2235s and a few 2226js and a couple of 2240s that I could use for the bottom. Thanks, P

AM4315 same box and horn as 6315

I just found this old thread, and hope others have investigated these speakers. The mid power unit, the AM4315, uses the 2033H bass in the same volume as the 2226H in the hi power AM6315 and the 2265 in the 7315-good bass, but not a sub. The horns are the same for all three boxes, a 90 x 50 or a 60 x 40 pattern, but the driver for the 4200 and 4315 series is the 1" 2407H on an adapter to the 1.5 horn casting (2431H, 2432H on the 6315 and 7315, respectively) The CMCD mids (with phase plug; read white paper) are the 165H on the 4315 and 2250 or 2168 for the high power models. The 4315 is optionally bi amped, so changing sensitivity of the bass does not require crossover mod. 63 and 7315 boxes are biamp or tri amp, with bass always separate. The AL6115 Bass contains a 2226 in about the same volume as the bass in the AM three ways... One could consider perforating the floor of the horn portion of the enclosure in the 4315/6315/7315 to gain volume for bass extension-but they sound very good as is. (High efficiency+dynamics)
A sub "could appropriately be put elsewhere to advantage." Maybe a 2256 or 2269 up to 45 or 50Hz? hidden in some little room node? If you find any AM three ways, please try them... John, near a coast

    Did you buy these cabinets?
I am very interested in the CMCD-61H.
Also do anyone have the T/S parameters of the 165H driver used in the CMCD-61H concept?
