    Cool As Folk

    http://www.delphonicmusic.com/discography/cool-as-folk/

This thread seems an unlikely place to put forth a compilation. This collection is worthy. The thirty-six tracks were selected from live recordings of outstandingly talented musicians, culled from twenty years of the Cambridge Folk Festival. The title is literal. There is folk music and so much more. These CDs are a joy to listen to. I confess I had not heard of some of these musicians but I will fix that tout suite.

$428 for the CD? It'd better be damn good!
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers

It's on Rhapsody. In the past when confronted with price larceny like this I have waited it out. Eventually one comes up on Alibris or Amazon for something reasonable and I snipe it.

Rhapsody has some pretty hard to find music. If there is a good file available they will stream (and download) at CD quality or close to it. My friend who worries about such things notes that some music streams at 192 (as opposed to 44.1) from Rhapsody. This is not Spotify. It has no free service.

I'll see you and raise you this. Brilliantly performed. He stuns an already appreciative Japanese audience with these encores.

    Difficult to play music

Not that there is any correlation between difficulty and artistic value, but the audio examples in this BBC feature sound very rewarding to my sensibilities. The piece that was written for a player piano was never intended to be played by a human, but unlike synth works it is played on an actual acoustic instrument.

First post here and I can't think of a better place to start. If you've got 80's music in your blood you'll recognize this band name with songs that seemed, at the time, to be some pretty run-of-the-mill pop contributions. Their Pop-era albums are actually much better than you'd think but, nonetheless, Talk Talk and it's leader Mark Hollis progressed into a band that stand alone and created two outstandingly unique releases. Since their release and one solo album Hollis walked away from the industry and refuses to go back. Pity...

If you're a patient listener these albums will not disappoint. Stunning recordings too.

(Album graphics are live links to AllMusic, BTW)

When I'm lazy, just let Pandora roll. sometimes it picks a gem (among the many turds it picks),
anyway ... I'm a Surf Guitar fan from the 60's (grew up surfing SoCal)

'dora ran ...Dick Dale - Unknown Territory

damn ..never heard it before, at almost 8 minutes , guess it was too long for AM and not AOR enuff for FM ?

IF you enjoy the genre, it's a real treat The only adjectives that I can come up with are :
    EPIC & QUINTESSENTIAL !!

A deep and historically significant JBL/Fender connection there too.

If you happen to like Piano and Classical pick up Chopin Nocturnes by Ivan Moravic, absolutely beautiful renderings
