Nice,
I like the idea of integrating speakers in furniture. Been thinking about it many times myself.

Shoulda been bigger with two woofers! Would have twice the approval factor!
Nice effort there Ed !
Looks like the big-brother to Altec's effort .
Anyhow, before a vacuum-cleaners head gets flipped-up ( side-ways ) into that paper-cone, I would consider the protection afforded by something like this ;
I'm sure that you can find ( nearby ) something similar ( from someone like

Interesting. Of course the one issue (and not addressed in the Altec brochure) is how to discretely run the wire to it in the middle of your living room floor.
Still cool though!
Thats easy - you run conduit below the floor and put a (speaker) outlet just below it, of course!
JK - we spent yesterday with fishtape running wires through the walls and ceiling
so we could set up rear surrounds for Mark's system in his new home ...
so I have those techniques fresh in my mind (and fingers)!

Awesome a stealth sub woofer hiden right in plain site literally right under your nose. And the table itself is very very nice.
Not trying to bump the thread but I would like to get these pictures back up so here they are......Hopefully they last.

It's really nice. I think I've finally set up the room and speakers in a satisfying way. I run this sub with the 4430s.
I didn't have a lot of options for the whereabouts of the sub but have moved it from its initial location and made a bunch of other changes to the monitors and it's blissful.
Placement aside, I also used a Marantz receiver with the upper end Audyssey EQ on it with fantastic results. It's one of the few room eq (consumer) systems that tackles subwoofer frequencies effectively. I'd tried the MiniDSP with REW previously with unsatisfying results. The Marantz setup also makes it easy for me to switch between 2 channel for music and full HT without fussing with the miniDSP.
My Crown XLS 1500 that I was using for the sub (bridged) died so I used a little Samson Servo 120 in its place temporarily. I must say that it drives the 2242 impressively; can't wait to get the Crown back to put some real juice into it.
The only other changes I might make is to run external amps for the 4430 passively or in biamp mode....just for the love of tweaking.
Cheers,
Warren

Why not use the picture attaching feature of the site? If you had used it originally the pictures would still be there. I wish everyone would attach their images through the site so years down the road the pictures would still be archived.
Nice table by the way.
