JBL recone kits made in Mexico

First of all I wish to all of you all the best in 2014. I want to share something with you. I ordered two C8R2202 recone kits from authorized JBL dealer some time ago. One kit was delivered very fast but I waited for the second couple of months. If I ignore this waiting time which is too long for such company like JBL I was surprised with extremely poor quality of the second recone kit. I must say that if these recone kits were done at HaDM factory I can suspect poor quality of all JBL products made in Mexico. There is also visual difference which is not significant but irritates me from start as I opened shipping boxes. Since speakers are supposed to be used in hifi home environment I hope you understand my complains. First kit received is good. As I am informed these were the last two kits available. Pictures are following.

    Spider to former connection

Glue is not equal around former, even there are places without it. It looks like child played with glue. This is not my first JBL recone kit I bought and I see this the first time job done that way.

    Connection to cone

I am not sure if this is normal. Also it seems that coil in not perfectly round and it will be difficult to mount this kit to frame. I will see what dealer will say.

    Kits pictures

I am posting pictures of kits. I do not want that somebody thinks I am talking about non JBL kits. Instead of making kits good they stopped producing them, instead of making good shipping boxes for (consumer) drivers they stopped selling them I am not sure if this is good direction at all.

Both coils have DCR of 5.9 Ohm. It seems they used different color voice coil glue or whatever it is.

FYI after i got C8R2121 pair from US plant with some issues (cracks and a small dot on cone) please note what JBL Pro in Europe said ... "after talking to 2 of our specialists in house we do not accept your second complaint. It is not warrantable! We are JBL Pro and not Hifi oriented. The "issue" with the cone kit is only cosmetical and will have no influence on sound. If you really insist on it, you can give the cone kit back and we will credit it for goodwill. But be aware that even if you wait for a next cone the danger is great that it will have also "issues". If it is so, we will NOT again take the cone kit back! "

be aware, the color doesn't affect the sound but not the geometry of the voice coil ...

    Another "Made in Mexico" example

Interesting. But they have a nice (high) price for kits. For something in that range I can expect quality at least.

    Hi
Neglecting the visual aspect of the second (BAD) C8R2202 kit, I think that VC connection would produce VC rubbing, so it is evident that ANY of expect-able QUALITY CONTROL has not been done.

Looks like a pure quality control issue; training, skill, process. By contrast, I recently purchased a pair of D16R2441 diaphragms (Mexico) from a JBL dealer and they were delivered in two weeks and appear (and sound) to be "good goods." Mike
