    Question Paragon Horn

    Hello,

can somebody tell me if the mid-horn used in the paragon is the same as the one in the 2395 horn/lens combination?
Which of the old horns (2390,2395,2350) could be considered best for home use?

    Many thanks for advices,
    Volker

Yes this is the same horn used in the 2395.
Best JBL horn for home listening is 2397 (for me).

    Paragon Midrange Horn

    JBL H5038P Elliptical Horn
    Length: 12”
    Width*: 14”
    Height*: 6-1/2” (SWAG)
    * Mouth Flange

If you are building a Paragon, recommend enclosure be modified to accept a larger horn with dimensions of say 14”L x 16”W x 7.5”H. Horn [Fc] should be no larger than 200-250 Hz. Set mouth ellipse at a = 2*b. This arrangement should improve driver loading at the critical 500 Hz. c/o frequency.

Thank you both for the information!
While looking at the pictures of the paragon, i always thought it is the same horn, but i never was shure. Do you think an E145 could be used in a home build paragon ?

    E 145

Of course you can use an E145. It`s like an 150-C with more
    x max i think.
The lens (2310) you see on my avatar was used in the "Hartsfield"and has a rectangular horn (2309).
    This combo was called 2390.

Just my thoughts but I don't know about an E145. Only thing that would concern me is the low end extension, An LE15 is going to do better in the 80hz to 40hz range. I use 145's in 5 cubic ft. reflex cabinets and they are going downhill fast at 50Hz. Even with the "horn loading" in the Paragon I don't know if they would work or not. I don't think that horn is going to do much where you are going to need it. Does the Paragon horn load well down to say 40Hz?? Looks kinda short and small mouth area wise. Can you model the driver/horn combo in Horneshop???
