I am very proud of my self homework, cause I'm not a carpenter... and these babies sounds great!
What happened to the 2235 woofers? Where have they gone? The 2226 have a very different response from the original 2235 and they are two very different woofers. Not to mention that the ports are also specific to the 2235. At this point this is not about being purist. It is a major mismatch of components. Go get some 2235s ;-)
If I'm reading right, it seems like these are a pair of homebuilt 4430s -
and nice work too, from the look of them!
Don't think he ever had a pair of 2235s - the 2226s are all he could find over there.
Lets just hope the 2226s are placeholders until he can scare up the proper drivers ...
2ch: WiiM Pro; Topping E30 II DAC; Oppo, Acurus RL-11, Acurus A200, JBL Dynamics Project - Offline: L212-TwinStack, VonSchweikert VR-4
7: TIVO, Oppo BDP103D, B&K, 2pr UREI 809A, TF600, JBL B460
As long as you tune the cabinet properly for each type of woofer, it should be fine. 2226's like to be tuned to 40Hz, while the 2235 likes closer to 30Hz or a little below, depending on cabinet volume.
My HT system is similar, with a pair of 2226J's in a 2.5 way setup. All four of them do not keep up with the single 2235H sub down below 40Hz.
You can look for 2225's as well as 2235's. 2225's will accept the 2235 cone kit.
It does not always save any money getting 2225's reconed into 2235's, but you might save some time waiting to find 2235's.

You have to make sure the coil is pependicular to the top plate. The spider goes a long way in keeping it centered and to get it centered you use a low level bass tone say 30hz or so. Keep it low level and when the glue starts to set go up in level to make sure it's centered properly and won't rub getting up near x-max. I have doing refoams for years this way and it works fine. How do you keep the cone and the coil centered if you can't shim the coil (requiring to remove the dust cover)? Is the spider enough to keep the coil centered and the cone perfectly flat?
