I guess Bling Bling is more important to them these days, especially in the land of 'Crib' - thanks for that reminder btw, I must remember to check that show out again...
    Musician audiophiles...

Last night I was reading the liner notes to the remastered (1999) Katy Lied album from Steely Dan and in between all of their talk of drugs they mentioned having acquired dual pairs of Magneplaners and a pair of Audio Research D76s... that was way out in front of the audio curve in 1974!

    And, hey, Sam...

I'm not sure that's much of a cowboy hat on ol' Freddy boy, but if'n you're so inclined, we open for Charlie Daniels at the Grand National Rodeo, Cow Palace, Oct. 29th - come on by! Maybe no true culinary delights there , but Widget and harem have been known to saddle-up for our gigs now and again!

I tried to search Google for famous systems but only
came up with one link. It seems to be a very long rant
so I just enjoyed the pictures that would make great
    avitars for someone.

    You guys are all crazy!!!

The only guy I know is for sure is Tony Levin. The bass player with Peter Gabriel, King Crimson and various other bands. That's it though.

It is a long rant; However it raises a lot of points that I agree 100%, like "High end", ultra $ cables, etc.

You see innocents spending $500 on a stereo, and $100 on cables, they should start with $600.

I would suppose many industry types- talent or production- do not have the need (desire?) for the highest quality equipment at home if they live with it at work. The small-home studios seem to be common now but the need for large format monitors in these locations may not fit with the size or acoustics of the rooms.

From the essay I recently read below, Keith Richards does not seem to have a brand preference, as long as it can go LOUD and clean.

Well, I can only speak for the guys here at Universal Music. Jimmy Iovine has in his office, large Tannoys powered by Bryston amps, and in his main conference room it is 6 Dynaudios, 2 Velodyne Subs and one Tannoy center speaker. This is the most incredible system I have yet heard, though probably not what would be considered audiophile.

    Fred Durst,

    Genelics

    Ron Fair, A&M Records President,
    Yamaha NS10's powered by Bryston
    Dynaudios and Velodyne

    Jordan Shur, Geffen Records President,

Office; Tannoys powered by Bryston, Velodyne sub
Private conference room; Dynaudios and Velodyne sub

From what I know, and being a musician myself, Most musicians rarely just sit to listen to music. they are amost always listening to evaluate or learn from what is on the disc. Most are more concerned with the system in their car than the one in their home. Most of them have some sort of home studio as well and in there it is usually nearfield monitors.

    Blessings, Terry

Yes. The aesthetics of the unique cross bracing is appealing. I wonder if form really does follow function in this case?
