Right, and I owned a REL Stentor III (the model just below their flagship Studio II then) that I wish I still had. Both used the Volt 10 driver. Great sub, and REL is one of the very few powered subs I'd ever own. To my knowledge, JBL currently makes nothing that even comes close in a powered model.

Mctwins - that's a pro model, not something a lot of people would want parked in their living rooms.
martin - I didn't know they were making that one. However, if you've ever heard a well-set up REL, you'd see how nicely they can integrate into the system (once dialed in) which IMHO is the key to great sub performance. Anyone can make a big box with a big driver to go 'boom!', but if it sounds detached or not like an extension of the satellites, then to me it isn't optimal. That's not taking anything away from the Array sub's capability, I'm sure it can put out a decent wallop.
As my experience with the REL showed me, it isn't just about lowest Hz or big dB output/brute force bass. Subs like REL's better models (and perhaps JL Audio's) simply sound like your speakers gained the last octave or so in the low end, not as a separate entity, and the soundstage and detail is improved as well. It's quite impressive.

Ha Cool, I'm glad Tonto is preserved and on show in a museum, it's an impressive, innovative beast. NMC looks like a great place.

yeah, not sure. Maybe they're up high probably because its a huge room. I presume they are there just for playback to the musicians in the studo
When we had them in a similar sized music/rehearsal room, that's what they were used for.
Not critical listening or eval.
