I just saw this later photo. Nice woofer removal job! See the one on the floor. Maybe the photographer was the one who was salvaging them. I would imagine the cabinets were rotted from being in the humidity for so many years.
Hmm. I didn't even know what "Air Studios" was until I wiki'ed it! Pretty interesting.

Air studios Montserrat was an extension of George Martin's London based Air studios (built in the West Indies for tax loopholes and also because G Martin loved the island a little). All sorts of bands recorded here like Black Sabbath, the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Buffet (shocker) and Dire Straits. Martin abandoned the studios right before hurricane Hugo hit in 1989. Now you can just go walk around inside. Creepy and awesome!
