Wow, I love this design. Inspired by Avalon?

Which driver is it for the LF?

Actually inspired by Giskard's(4313B) use of the 2206h, SAM1 HF.
The cab is a modified Wilmslow Audio Prestige kit (but yeah I think that was Avalon inspired).
Only good down to 55hz so am intending to use a(maybe 2) BK XXLS400 sub to handle the first 1 1/2 octaves.

Have you given them a listen yet? I always test and retest before spending hours finishing a design... Looks very nice, I've been planning something similar for a while now... just not sure how to integrate that horn. I want to maintain the sonics of the 1400 Array, but avoid the "goofy" looks.

    It looks quite interesting!

I'm curious as to how you will like the 2206H with that horn. I think it works great and you have to like that 96 dB, W, m. G.T. might just be right, the 4-inch voice coil makes all the difference.

JBL does use the 2206H in the 2.0 cu ft box tuned to 40 Hz which yields a bit more bottom end.

I ended up with a 1.2 cu ft box tuned to 60 Hz to tighten up the bandwidth a bit given that they were intended to use with subs. Mine are just boring rectangular boxes.

So... SAM2LF? Or the readily available 2206H or its neo equivalent beneath a SAM1HF?

Thanks for the kind words. Some first impressions after a few hours using settings for the SAM1 already in the XTA memory and some quick n dirty tweaking for the 2206 (so far 12db/oct bessel @552hz) wow! Transients, rim shots to die for, mid detail and floor toms, oh the toms..really pleased thus far, can't wait to see /hear the sub fill out the bottom end.
I was a little worried the enclosure may spoil the good imaging but nothing I hear makes me think it's any way inferior to the stand alone SAM1.

    Thanks for the inspiration everyone.

Very nice work. I like the way you integrated the horn into a "box" enclosure. Overall has a nice finished look.

I agree... very nicely done. I'd like to see one done in all real wood veneer, but that would be a real pain.

I first thought of this pairing of drivers a couple of years ago... have the parts, but that is as far as I've gotten. In my plans, there is a Sub1500 tucked away in the design as the 2206 is really only a midbass driver. A punchy and exciting one to be sure, but asking it to go below 60Hz is a stretch.

So Cooky, since you are years ahead of me... please keep the comments flowing. I wish I could hear your magnificent creations.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    They definitely need a sub(one 1500) or 2 of the BK/peerless subs BK XXLS-400 Subwoofer Review | AVForums.com - UK Online
I've got just the one at the minute but now think 2 would be twice as good!
Of note is the 2206h's I have are NOS and have broken in/loosened up quite a bit from yesterday.
    Go for it Mr Widget.

    Hello Cooky

They came out really nice. You are doing the SAM crossover for more sensitivity?? So do they sound as kickass as they look?? Do you like them better than the 2235 based pair you had?? I would think on the right material they can sound really fast and effortless.
