Replacing Quadrex Foam on L-100 Grilles

I finally pulled my four L-100s out of storage and am getting ready to install new quadrex foam on the grilles. I'd like to hear from anyone who has done this before.

The only real problem I see is removing the old, hardened glue that JBL used when securing the original foam onto the frames. I want to remove the old glue while preserving the fabric material (which is still in excellent condition) that's stapled onto the frames and serves as support for the quadrex foam. If I use a metal scraper it will probably damage the delicate fabric. Is there a solvent that works to sufficiently soften the glue so that it can be gently scraped away without ruining the cloth?

It's probably best to just scrape off the rotted foam and leave the old glue. I spent hours scraping glue on one set that I did, and on another job, I just left the glue alone. In the end, you couldn't tell the difference.
