seem well made , a good config for bike riding , no slipping
very nice mids & highs , good detail , adequate bass (for being open air)
and still allows me to hear traffic

Grado Labs Celebrates Its Brooklyn Heritage with a Special Headphone
If a tree falls in Brooklyn, will anybody hear it? Now a lucky few people will hear the tree or, at least, what’s left of it, thanks to our good friends at Grado Labs.
Introducing the Special Limited Edition Grado Heritage Series Headphone. Grado Labs has been hand-building products in Brooklyn for over sixty years. The family’s Brooklyn heritage goes back to 1911, when company founder Joseph Grado’s father came from Sicily and made his home here. The great-grandfather of today's company CEO John Grado opened his fruit store in 1918, and continued operating the store until 1952. In 1953, that store became Grado Laboratories.
Fast-forward sixty-two years, and Grado is celebrating its heritage with the GH1. The GH1 is the first headphone to ever be built from a Brooklyn tree, and it marks the beginning of the Grado Heritage Series. What makes this mean even more to the folks at Grado is that the tree is from their hometown of Sunset Park.
Authoritative Sound Quality
This is Grado's first time using maple, and the sound is something that John Grado and his associates are very proud of. The performance is dynamic, the bass frequencies are authoritative, the midrange is true, and the high frequencies are immaculate. The driver complement is similar to what is used in the RS2e, but the maple has its own signature. It is authoritative, and it is different than the sonic signature of the Mahogany that Grado uses in the RS1/2e.

brass body
NO markings
braided wire casing
very high end sound.

is that a pic of donna summer or paul stanley on the earpiece?
or random color? no clue.
How can you tell? Do you shove them up some cavity as they are? Would appear they'd need some rubber tips to sound much like anything.
I suspect you're joking but if not . . . that's what's left of the glue that held the clue to who made the darn things!
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers
mostly . I did wonder if the "high end sound" comment was a sly comment on the apparent weight/brass ala Beats.
If you squeeze the nose you'll hear a few bars of "Take Me Home"!
.
not because I need them , just to prove to Lil'Boss that I'm not out cattin' around all day
they work well , a very 60's sound ..good shape
saw an Alaska Airlines ad today , that Eskimo dude looks like the image that Phil thinks is
glue remnants .

so I've got these brass earbuds that I really like. They came without silicon plugs,
and I just put on what was available. (white ones on the left in pic) ,,sounded great
figured these clear ones (on the right) may fit ear canal a little better , they did, BUT ...
the sound quality went all to H3LL. No bass, compressed , etc.
the only difference that I can see is the aperture size. who knew the hole made such
impact on the music ? switched back quickly.

As a self appointed VAR , I buy what sells ...not always what I like.
Got these Booze. what crap construction , sound. Looked them up,
$300 MSRP ... I felt maybe they could be $30 new, on a good day.
Continually impressed tho with the Fostex's , wow..detail/detail/detail.
sometimes feels like it's the first time I've ever heard that old fave track

IMHO ..the far & away winner in the approx $100 class. Just wish the DAP
could push them a little louder.

I setup my pod on it's sleep timer and playing thru the Fostex's almost nightly. As a longtime Sennheiser fan, the TRP-40's blow me away.
Yes, they are slightly modded with Beyer ear cups and a commercial pilots sheepskin band pad so as to be ultra comfortable, and WOW ... they really would give the STAX a run for the money (except in low bass)
Anyway, I found this Amazon link .. http://www.amazon.com/Fostex-Semi-Op...N%3DB0002MT6RY
for a great price on the next higher model.
Don't be expecting the overwhelming bass of Beats, in fact the Fostex are mids prominent if anything, but damn , IF I needed more cans (than my current 20+) , I'd do that AMZN deal in a heartbeat.
Oh, one other thing. They have detachable - plug in cords. I've tried 4 or 5 different ones, and they DO make a difference. Some lower the sound volume, some hurt the image. Don't know about the OEM cord, mine came w/o it.
