    128H cone diameter

I recently got a pair of 4412s to compliment my existing L150s and L100Ts.

The 128H-1s in my 4412s need to be refoamed, so I ordered this kit:

    www.ebay.com/itm/170811267175

I noticed that it says that it fits both 128H, 128H-1, as well as 2214H. That includes all of the 3 woofers among my 3 JBLs.

But then I did something that I'm not sure I've ever actually done before - actually measured the cones using a tape measure.

The 128H in my L150s and the 2214H in my L100Ts both measure at 9 5/8", but the 128H-1 in my 4412 measures at 9 3/8".

I thought I had read before that the 2214H was a slightly larger diameter than the 128H, but I didn't expect the 128H and the 128H-1 cones to be different diameter from each other. I had been under the impression that the woofers were basically identical aside from their cone color. Apparently not?!?

Of course the million dollar question is - did I order the right kit? Is there enough play in the foam that the same foam will fit on both a 9 3/8" and a 9 5/8" cone?

Got an eBay response to my question that I sent which included my cone measurements:

Not a problem with the smaller cones in your 128H1 woofers. Most 128 cones measure around 9-3/8" A few are over 9-5/8" in diameter. This is why I ask all my customers to measure their JBL 12" woofer cones to insure the correct kit is sent.
Looks like it's not a problem. I'll leave this here for reference. Thanks.

Everyone here who has used Rick Cobb for 128 surrounds has gotten the same information before the order was sent. Rick knows his stuff.

I have a 128H enroute from California which is in need of new foam. Rick suggested I wait till it arrives and measure it before placing an order, I guess the 128Hs came in two cone sizes as well.
My current woofers measure 9 5/8" fwiw.

Well it looks like the 128H-1 is not the only one that comes in 2 sizes, my 128H spare finally arrived but it turned out to be a 9-3/8" model
