    My JBL Pro hometheather

The last few years I've had a lot of different JBL Pro systems in my hometheather, including JBL 3678, 4670, 4675, 4645, 4641, 4645B, different mixes with 2360, 2380, 2352, 2445, 2446, 2447, 2035, 2226, 2241, 2245, 2242 and probably more... I have also had a 3-way EAW CB523 system that was pretty good, but still not quite satisfied..

So last year I tried DIY instead, useing 2435 and 2227 as mains with 4645B subs, but I guess... my DIY knowledge is not too good and the system did not play as good as I was hopeing. So right now I'm quite tired of DIY and have bought another JBL PRO system that I hope I will keep

From all the cinema systems I've had last few year it's the best sounding.. It consists of 4648 boxes with 2x2226 and the HF is 2447 on a 2352 horn, and even though it's just hooked up, it sound pretty darm good! Right now I "only" use a pair of 4645B but I have 4 more and will be useing another pair on top of the other.

To power this, I will be useing 3xMiniDSP PWR-DSP3 plateamps, hopefully I will be receving them next week!

Normally you don't see any of the JBL PRO speakers, this is what it looks like with screen in front and panels:

In the back of the room I use 4xJBL 8340 surround speakers:

And this is how it looked when I had the EAW speakers

Even though many thinks I play at ridiculous levels, this is not the case. Yes, I can play loud if I want but that's not the reason for this setup. The main goal for me is to play "cinema correct" and I think JBL PRO speakers is a good (and cheap) way to reach this goal

I will hook up another pair of 4645B this evening and also do some room treating similar to what I've done in the past, worked pretty well as "bass traps" when I used JBL 3678:

You don't watch movies for the story lines or the stars, do you?

Not sure if I understood you correct. But if I did... "even though you own a Ferrari you don't have to run at 200mph"

A system capable of 120-130dB normally sound better and more relaxed at 100dB than another system that hit max at 100dB, that's the whole idea. When I watch movies at normal volume I bet the woofers hardly move at all

A final picture before the screen and panels are mounted again:

2242H in 4645B are replaced by new 2258 woofers, not very much difference in sound but they are brand new.

Still haven't received my MiniDSP plateamps, hopefully it will not take too much time before they arrive.

Have you had a chance to run any audio measurements for any of the iterations of your theater setups?

No measurements yet... I will hopefully receive my MiniDSP amps tomorrow and then the real fun will begin

I use an acoustic screen from Dreamscreen, it's not a very well known company outside norway i guess, but they have some pretty good screens at very reasonable prices. I know a some people that have compared those screen to the much more expensive screens from SMX, Screen Excellence and others that have prefered the Dreamscreen. So they are really a bargain!

    Hi Baldrick,

How come you didnt like the 2227 setup? Im interested to try them out from 300Hz to whatever frequency I will start using the sub, in a rather highly tuned vented cabinet. I have read that they might be a little bit forward but I belive that crossing them rather low will deal with that matter. Any thoughts on that, where did you cross them?
