Yeah... if I ever actually get around to building this stuff. I need to reload all my software and get my garage cleaned out. My shop equipment is now buried under a ton of other junk. Too busy playing World of Tanks (As of December 2013, there are 75,000,000 registered players worldwide) and closed beta testing World of Warships to do much of anything else "hobby related". I really would like to get started in the next few weeks though...
Thanks Ivica
I just like the 4435 concept so much.
It is much better than a subwoofer crossover in term of phase behavior.
FIR phase linearisation makes this a moot point though...
The M2 looks like a very good compromise, and I am not sure it could be made better by adding say a 12" midbass and/or a supertweeter.
I have some TM1201H and ET703 here, so I can test that (and I will, most probably), but building the original design as a baseline (finish line?) is probably the most sensible thing to do.
I only play for the graphics...
Well, that and the fact that my team needs me.
My brother in law hooked me up with World of Warplanes during a Thanksgiving visit after he saw it on the History Channel. We played it for about two hours and I decided it wasn't my thing. Then I tried World of Tanks...
Now I am a closed beta tester for World of Warships... I'm probably not a great choice for a beta tester because I don't have a whole lot of time to waste on it. They haven't sent me any emails saying "Play More!" yet so whatevski...
Your new avatar is great!
I hear you!
I have seriously considered it, both horizontally and vertically.
But I am also sufficiently familiar with the stock M2 and it is really good. I could definitely live with it right out of the box. That's just me though. It could be that I simply don't have the desire to build a couple of ten cubic foot boxes yet again.
My most recent project with the dual woofer thing was with the 1500AL's and they just didn't come together like I had envisioned. I did both horizontal and vertical (vertical was definitely better). They just didn't work out as well as the dual 2234H's. The single 1500AL's worked out too well. The dual woofer boxes went to the landfill.
Kewl!
I've got the whole lot on order as of minutes ago. I just hope I can get away with a less expensive DSP option for the next year or so...any ideas?
Bass box sims in the room with 27 Hz tuning put it in the low 20's.
That not bad for 135 litres
Hypothetically , lets say I had a pair of 4430 in good nick , but I want to shall we say ,elevate the performance somewhat. Well , it looks to me that the M2 waveguide would fit above the 2235 with some modest wood hacking.
Lets say it will fit without to much agony , in we pop the M2 horn combo at the new apparent pricing , then DSP the crap out of it.
Seems like a plan to me.
I happen to have the 4430 horn baffle packed in a box. I'll dig it out and see how the M2 waveguide fits. I think the M2 waveguide might be a bit too tall though at 15" (not counting the lower lip).
Well, I did say hacking , however with a little creativity you know, things can be done.
Serious apologies to Kenrick for messing with their image and to JBL for having bad thoughts.
There should be ~ 2" either side of the waveguide , vertical I have already trimmed it a bit , might just go in at a squeak with some more off and some resin work.
I'm a bad man.
Are the T/S parameters available for the 2216nd? I couldn't find them after a search.
Thanks,
Warren
