BSS BLU is JBL's SDEC...

Should have known that... Sorry
I would guess then that the JBL SDEC4500P is a BSS BLU160, the SDEC4500X is a BSS BLU120 expander without DSP capacity and the SDEC3000 a BLU16. I bit weird since the JBL spec and the BSS ditto does not match. JBL states that SDEC3000 does not have any crossovers built in, but that must be a deliberate choice in the JBL SW because the BSS BLU16 unit is identical to the BLU160 except for clock speed and the ability to interconnect with BLULINK. Both of them use the same I/O cards and can take the same DSP setups from London Sound Web.
I guess that the SDEC4500P+X/BLU160+BLU120 setup is to add more I/O. I have solved that by using two BLU16/SDEC3000 units. Together they have 8 digital channels (4 digital stereo pairs 5.1 from a Meridian G68) inputs and 24 analog outputs to run my entire 5.2 / 3-way JBL system active (17 drivers including subs).
On the JBL M2 site they state that one can use BSS BLU160 instead of the Crown I-tech. Why not push for the JBL SDEC3000/SDEC4500P units to a JBL branded speaker?
I think the BSS algorithms are as good as anyone’s as they are being updated all the time. DSP power should be enough for most applications in booth units. I do know that BSS have developed new ADC and DAC cards to be launched early next year. Maybe I can get a few to beta-test.
M2 seems just the Holy Grale that has been missing in the JBL line-up. -Much looking forward to hear them.
All the best

The solution to the problem changes the problem.
-And always remember that all of your equipment was made by the lowest bidder
Truth be told, they are not identical... the hardware is identical, but the firmware in the SDECs is custom for their intended applications.
Regarding using JBL SDECs with JBL M2s... the M2 was developed as a JBL Pro speaker and it makes sense from a corporate standpoint to use Crown or BSS with JBL Pro as all three are aimed at the same market. JBL Synthesis products are technologically similar to JBL Pro but are aimed at a different market.
Keep us posted on the improved ADC/DAC cards.

You're getting him confused with me. Anyway, after about a year now, I'm liking the S4700s. They have broken in very nicely. I'm not selling them anytime soon.
I quit worrying about "better" JBL models and just be happy with what I have in the meantime. I am definitely going to upgrade the amplification though.
I could get the M2s, but I don't want Levinson amplification.
I forgot where S4700 is from, but if he wants to sell, that's his bag.
I hope this sets the record straight once and for all with you and everyone else.
S4700 owner.

I suspect a serious buyer would just GO and LISTEN TO THEM directly somewhere,
and not expect second-hand audio off youtube to be an indication of quality.
No affiliation - just links I found
Dale audio has the whole system for just under $20k with the pair of Crown amps
JBL M2 System - includes (2) M2 Master Reference Monitors + (2) Crown iTech 5000 Power Amplifiers
http://www.daleproaudio.com/p-20601-...tech-5000.aspx
as does Sweetwater
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/M2System
Funny thing - Sweetwater sells a single speaker for $10k,
or a pair for just under $20k but throws in the pair of amps with the 2 speakers

Looking at the description they also include an amp for the single speaker

Can they be get without amps?Two-way Reference Studio Monitor System with 15" Woofer; Dual-diaphragm, Dual-voice-coil Compression Driver; and Crown I-T5000 HD Amplifier (Each)
The only guy ..I've talk to ...name Scott.. 240-994-0998 from Rockville, MD
jbl installer ..local.....said he heard them ..in N. Y. w/Frank Filipetti
at the controls...he said they didn't need a sub..
Ah If I had 20K for M2
I could make a mistake ... but for 20K how many mistakes can you make?
