Just to be sure and settle things down, could someone with the official passive network, either from speaker exchange or from inside an original M2, please tell us the real values of the two caps?
    Is it C1=4.7uF and C2=3.3uF ?
This is of real importance for anyone expecting to clone the M2, as a 209Hz or 1kHz pole makes a huge difference for the resulting crossover, and could even damage the driver on high output...

    Thanks

C2= 3,3 uF. 33uF /250V is a very, very, very big capacitor.....( in size).

    Thanks
Do you happen to have the original network? Which revision?
I want to be 100% sure these are the actual values.

I don't have the filter, but it is impossible according to the size it is a 33uF cap. And if I remember correctly it was mentioned in the documentation from JBL somewhere, the filter was one pole of the highpass.

Yes, even the smallest MKP10 (100V) is too large: http://www.wima.com/EN/WIMA_MKP_10.pdf
But still, I would like to be sure of the actual values.

TBH I find it weird that no one realized there was a problem in JBL's published schematic.
It is obvious when measuring the amplitude response.

Buy one and find out. That's what I had to do after no one could post an impedance curve of the D2 bolted to the M2 waveguide. I had to buy a D2 and do it myself. I'll probably buy one of the little networks as well when I get to that point.

Has someone done any distortion measurements for the D2430k? I thought I had seen them here but am unable to locate.

    (disregard the response curve)
Those measurement were made with a driver coming from ebay (1 out of 3 was correct, the other two had sever distortion issues), but I found the new one measure pretty much the same.

Thank you! I knew I had seen those measurements here somewhere.

I'm pretty sure 1Audiohack has measured some on a plane wave tube, too.

What's the consensus on posting M2 DIY projects, should it be in here or should another thread be started that we all can add to? I originally posted some pics of progress in this thread but wanted to see if this was ok before posting more.

    I don't think there is a consensus.

The really massive threads are harder to return to to track down specific posts down the road. It might be nice to start your own thread covering your project.
